A pixel art jungle that is actually alive. It follows your computer's clock from dawn to night, shows tonight's real moon phase, and is generated live, so it never plays the same loop twice.

What it is

• Live, not a loop. The HTML version is drawn in real time: animals, rain, light and events never repeat exactly. (Only the videos are 30-second loops.)
• Your real time. Dawn, day, dusk and night follow your clock. The moon shows today's real phase.
• Native 32:9. The 5120×1440 version is the original artwork, pixel for pixel, composed for super-ultrawide screens, not stretched. 21:9 and 16:9 are recomposed so the waterfall, both great trees and the temple stay in frame.
• Crisp pixels. Integer scaling on 1080p, 1440p, 4K, 3440×1440 and 5120×1440.
• Light. Renders at low resolution and scales up, 30 fps max.

Works on

• Windows: Lively Wallpaper (free), Wallpaper Engine (beta: import as a web wallpaper), or any browser in full screen.
• Mac: the included Mac app, or Plash (free). The app isn't signed by Apple yet: the README shows the one-time "Open Anyway" step.
• Linux / Chromebook: any modern browser in full screen (F11).
• Phone: Android with any video live-wallpaper app. iPhone: iOS doesn't allow video wallpapers; use the PNG, or convert the video to a Live Photo (limited effect).

Tip: add ?fps=15 to the address to halve the load, or use the video. Lively and Wallpaper Engine pause it when a game is full screen.

Secrets

There's more going on than it seems. Ask the sloth what time it is. Look closely at the trees. Stay up late and watch the sky. Some dates are special. And old video game codes might still work...

FAQ

Does it loop? The HTML version doesn't; the videos are 30-second loops.
Ultrawide? Yes: native 21:9 and 32:9, composed for those screens.
Videos won't play on Windows? The 32:9 video is HEVC or WebM: use the .webm file, or install Microsoft's HEVC Video Extensions.
Updates? Free. Re-download any time from your itch.io library.
