Neon City — Animated Pixel Art Wallpaper (32:9 / 21:9 / 16:9)

A rainy pixel art neon city that runs on your clock. Signs flicker on one by one at dusk, windows go dark late at night, the street turns into a mirror when it rains, and it's all drawn live, so it never plays the same loop twice.

What it is

• Live, not a loop. Flying cars, an elevated train, pedestrians with umbrellas, drones, steam, holograms and LED billboards, generated in real time.
• Your real time. The sky follows your clock, the moon shows today's real phase, and a building shows your time on its clock.
• Weather. Rain that wets the street and slowly dries, fog, and the odd thunderstorm behind the skyline.
• Native 32:9, 21:9 and 16:9. Composed for each width, never stretched.
• Light. Low-resolution render scaled up, 30 fps max.

• Mac: the included Mac app, or Plash (free). The app isn't signed by Apple yet: the README shows the one-time "Open Anyway" step.
• Linux / Chromebook: any modern browser in full screen (F11).
• Phone: Android with any video live-wallpaper app. iPhone: iOS doesn't allow video wallpapers; use the PNG, or convert the video to a Live Photo (limited effect).

Secrets

Keep an eye on the clock. There's a cat on the roof with a schedule of its own. Full moons change things. Some nights, something unusual drops by. And old video game codes might still work...

FAQ

Does it loop? The HTML version doesn't; the videos are loops.
Is it heavy? About the same as a light browser tab. Add ?fps=15 or use the video to go lighter.
Videos won't play on Windows? The 4K 16:9 and ultrawide MP4 files are HEVC: install Microsoft's HEVC Video Extensions, or use the ultrawide .webm files, the 1080p and 1440p MP4 files, or the live HTML version.
Updates? Free, from your itch.io library.
